GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRINCES’ ISLANDS

During the Byzantine Empire period, princes and members of the royal family who lost favor were exiled to these islands.

After the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, members of the Ottoman royal family were also sent here. This is why the islands are called the Princes’ Islands.

The archipelago consists of nine islands of different sizes. Motor vehicles are not allowed on the islands, creating a peaceful environment where visitors can enjoy nature, history and charming streets.
